Huge quantity of food seized ‘Unfit for consumption’

KUWAIT CITY, April 14, (Agencies): Kuwait Municipality announced Sunday seizure of large quantities of food items, during a campaign against make-shift stalls in Hawally Governorate, because they were not meeting health safety standards. A municipality team confiscated four trucks loaded with vegetables, fruits, boxes of lupines, 39 boxes of sparkling water, pickles, truffles, 290 cartons of nuts, 384 packs of candy and 2,900 CDs, Director of Road Words at Hawally’s Municipality Khaled Al-Azmi said in a press statement.

These food items are not meeting health safety standards thus cannot be consumed by humans, he said. He said sellers of make-shift stalls were posing a threat on safety of human beings because their products lacked the minimum health safety standards. The sellers, added Al-Azmi, were also disrupting traffic in residential areas. He called on consumers not to buy from those sellers because they did not have the necessary health certificates.
