Teacher’s ‘weak’ grading annulled Pay comp, MoE told

KUWAIT CITY, April 6: The Administrative Court presided over by Magistrate Muhammad Abu Zayed annulled the assessment grade, “weak”, given to a teacher in Ministry of Education on his annual performance report, and the ensuing consequences. Also, the court obliged the Ministry of Education to pay KD2,000 in compensation to the teacher for damages caused.

According to the case file, the teacher submitted a complaint through his lawyer Abdulmuhsin Al-Qattan to protest his 2012/2013 annual performance assessment after the plaintiff complained to the ministry’s administration without receiving any response.

At the hearing, Lawyer Al-Qattan presented to the court a copy of letter from the head of Legal Affairs Department to the Head of Leaves Section, addressing the latter to suspend inquiry relating to his client’s sabbatical sports leave.

Also, the lawyer presented copies of letters from the deputy director general of sports affairs to the Ministry Undersecretary requesting ‘leave’ on behalf of the plaintiff for sports purposes on different occasions, in addition to a copy of Law 7/2007 amending Law Number 42/1978 regarding the sports authority.
