3,000 cancer patients diagnosed annually ‘MoH studying latest nano-technology’

 KUWAIT CITY, April 2: Nuclear Medicine Consultant at the Kuwait Cancer Treatment Cancer Dr Fawaz Abul Houda said an average of 3,000 cancer patients are diagnosed in Kuwait annually through nuclear medicine and 12,000 of the diagnosis are done in Hussein Makki Jumah Center for Cancer Treatment- out of the 12 cancer diagnosis centers in the country, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Dr Abul Houda told journalists the new technology has been introduced in nuclear diagnosis and cancer treatment at the center, noting the hybrid equipment is a medical nuclear machine attached to X-ray machine for diagnosis. He stated the twin machine is able to take sharp photos specifying the location of cancer and then treat the disease at the same time.

He also said the ministry is currently studying technique of the latest nano-technology and micro atom that can penetrate the immune system and veins for detailed diagnosis. He hopes the technology will be put into use after its safety and level of usefulness has been confirmed, compared to the side effects.
