Court acquits young man of cheating, wedding pledge

KUWAIT CITY, March 28: The Cassation Court revoked the ruling of a lower court, which sentenced a young man to two-month imprisonment. It instead acquitted him of swindling a Kuwaiti woman of KD 13,000 after promising to marry her daughter. According to the case files, the suspect told the plaintiff that he wanted to marry her daughter but was suffering from financial difficulties.

This prompted the plaintiff to take a loan of KD 13,000 from the bank and give it to him to settle his financial problems However, she later discovered that he was tricking her into obtaining the money. The defense attorney Abdulmohsen Al-Qattan insisted that the lower court made a mistake in its ruling, as there were insufficient evidences to indicate his client committed such a crime.
