Visas for Bangladeshis

KUWAIT CITY, March 20: Undersecretary of Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Abdulmohsen Al-Mutairi says the ministry has been discussing with the Ministry of Interior about the need to allow recruitment of Bangladeshi laborers especially for farming and gardening purposes, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Mutairi said this during a meeting with a delegation of farmers in his office, which was attended by the Assistant Undersecretary for Immigration at the Ministry of Interior Sheikh Faisal Al- Nawaf. He pointed out an important clause in the decision, which stipulates that Bangladeshis should not exceed 25 percent of workers employed by the companies.

Al-Mutairi indicated that the ministry highlighted the problems experienced in the farming sector and possible solutions to those problems to the Ministry of Interior. He explained that the workers must undergo necessary procedures of obtaining police clearance and medical fitness certificate from their country of origin, while the Kuwaiti Embassy in that country must attest the documents.
