Municipality sued - Plot errors seen

KUWAIT CITY, March 20: The Kuwait Municipality administration has purportedly committed errors in the seizure of land in Farwaniya owned by the heirs of Sheikh Ibrahim Hammoud Al-Jarrah; thereby, causing millions of losses to the country, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting sources. Sources revealed the heirs filed a lawsuit against Director General of the Municipality Ahmad Al-Sabeeh based on the statement of the Legal Administration about a legal expert’s assessment of the land, measuring 18,151 square meters with each square meter valued at KD1,000 or a total of KD18,151,000.

Sources added the Municipality has been asked to present documents on the transformation of this land into a fuel station and to compensate the heirs but until now it has not taken any action in this regard. Meanwhile, the Kuwait Municipality intends to hire the services of an advertising company to launch a public awareness campaign on construction regulations and the importance of respecting the law, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting sources. Sources confirmed the Municipality has allocated a budget of KD300,000 for this purpose, adding that a preliminary meeting was held earlier to discuss the project.
