Top officer prevents deportation in abuse of power Municipality targets cafes, car showrooms

KUWAIT CITY, March 17: A senior official in the Ministry of Interior is said to have exceeded his powers and stopped the deportation of three Filipinos and allowed them to transfer their residence permit under another sponsor, reports Al-Shahed daily. According to the daily, the officer has allegedly allowed the women to transfer their residence permit under the sponsorship of his relatives to benefit from their experience. Four women — three Filipinos and one Indian — were reportedly working for a Kuwaiti, identified as Hamed Jassem, who owned a women’s beauty parlor. The women were expert masseurs and beauticians and one day they ran away from his parlor last October. Jassem filed an absconding report and the women were arrested by the Hawalli police.

The were detained, legal action was taken against them and were to be deported for which he had booked their tickets. He added when he went to ensure they were being deported he was shocked to find the Indian was deported but the three Filipinos were allowed to transfer their residence permit and the deportation order cancelled. He went on to say, when he asked the senior official told him it was none of his business to see who is deported and who is not.

Municipality targets cafes, car showrooms: Director of Public Cleanliness and Road Construction at Hawally Municipality Abdulaziz Al-Yahiya says the operations of tackling encroachments on the roads and other state properties are ongoing. In a press statement issued following a campaign that was launched on Monday against encroachments on state properties, he stressed that this negative phenomenon troubles the residents of those areas and impedes traffic flow. Al-Yahiya explained that campaigns were launched during the weekends, targeting cafÈs that are built on unlicensed areas between old buildings in Al-Othman Street in Hawally area. He added that another campaign was launched in Hawally area against the violations committed by owners of shops that sell and buy vehicles

 Man, 2 wives fight: Three Kuwaitis — a man, his wife and exwife — have been referred for interrogation for fighting in a public place, reports Al-Rai daily. According to security sources the ex-wife was in a restaurant in Salmiya with her friends and at this time the husband walked in with his new wife. Following the man with his new wife, the ex-wife got angry and started abusing them verbally. This led to the fight. Acting on information, police rushed to the scene, controlled the situation and referred the trio for interrogation.

 ‘Magician’ arrested: An unidentified African who made people believe he has powers to double their money with magic has been arrested by the police, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily said the black magician somehow managed to lure his victims to part their money for 24 hours. Acting on information police set a trap for the man and caught him redhanded and seized from him tools used in the trade including strange objects which he used in black magic
