38 illegal expats arrested

KUWAIT CITY, March 16: Hawally securitymen launched a surprise inspection campaign in Salmiya and Hawally, resulting in the arrest of 38 expatriates of various nationalities for violating the Residency Law and involvement in different crimes. Hawally Security Director Brigadier Ghloom Habib instructed a team of securitymen to carry out the campaign.

The officers arrested six persons involved in civil cases, six facing criminal charges, one implicated in a drug-related case and had been sentenced to 15 years in jail, nine who violated the Residency Law, 10 marginalized personnel, and an undisclosed number involved in prostitution. All those arrested were referred to the relevant security department for the necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, an unidentified man suffered serious injuries when a half-lorry collided with a lorry on the Sixth Ring Road. A rescue team from the Fire Service Department rushed to the location after receiving information on the accident. They found the victim squeezed in one of the damaged vehicles, so they had to cut some parts of the vehicle to take him out. He was taken to a nearby hospital. A case was registered and investigations are ongoing to determine the actual circumstances leading to the accident.
