TROPA marks 5th ’versary of serving OFWs

KUWAIT CITY, March 15: The True and Reformed Overseas Pilipino Association (TROPA) in Kuwait celebrated its fifth anniversary on Friday at the Ceasar’s Restaurant in Fahaheel with guests of honour Philippine Consul General Atty Raul H Dado and Philippine Labour Attache Atty Cesar S Chavez Jr. “We would like to thank the officers and members of TROPA for supporting the embassy in all its programmes. Thank you for being our partner in serving and helping OFWs in Kuwait,” stated Dado. He lauded the group for its commitment to community service as he congratulated everyone during the momentous occasion.

Meanwhile, Chavez explained to the group the importance of knowing and understanding fully the labour laws in Kuwait. He also stressed on the vital role of the community in the prevention, protection and prosecution of labor violations and the eventual reintegration of OFWs to the Philippines or better known as the three Ps and one R, that the POLO-OWWA espouses on among OFWs in Kuwait.

In response, TROPA President Christopher Hernandez outlined to the guests the various projects and activities that the group has organised in the past years and the active role that the group has taken in rallying for the rights and welfare of OFWs in Kuwait. He renewed the group’s zeal to carrying on its mission of helping Filipinos especially those in distress. “We would like to thank the Philippine Embassy and POLO for giving us the opportunity and chance to be of service to OFWs in Kuwait and for considering us as their partner in community service.

Rest assured that we will carry on with whatever we have started. Thank you everyone for all your support,” pointed out Hernandez. He also thanked TROPA’s officers and members for their unity and cooperation since TROPA’s inception. Infusing some entertainment, some of its members rendered intermission numbers to the delight of everyone during the programme. The event was capped by a dinner reception as everyone enjoyed and had fun.
