Lawyer sues PAAET teacher for inciting sectarianism

KUWAIT CITY, March 9: Lawyer Ali Al-Ali has submitted a petition to the Prosecutor General against the English language teacher holding PhD from the College of Basic Education an affiliate of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET). In his petition he is accusing the teacher of inciting a segment of the society through malicious and abusive statements which could spark sectarianism. Al-Ali has submitted the petition on behalf of a student who was party to a dispute in November 2013.

He said the defendant was teaching the fundamentals of writing at the Ardhiya campus of PAAET and she purportedly attacked Shiite sect. He accused the defendant of criticizing Shiite leaders in a provocative manner almost on a daily basis. She allegedly disregarded the Shiite as an Islamic sect without considering the feelings of Shiite students, including the daughter of the lawyer, but the students could not react for fear it could affect their grading. He added that the respondent likened Shiites to Jews in violation of law number 19/2012.

‘Pay victim comp’: The Court of Appeals recently ordered an insurance company to pay KD 140,000 in compensation to a well-known female artiste who was involved in a car accident and as a result sustained serious injuries. The case was filed by the Attorney for the plaintiff Khaled Al-Enezi against the insurance company where the car of the other person involved in the accident was insured. The Public Prosecution said the other person had unintentionally caused the accident in which the artiste sustained serious injuries leaving her with a 15 percent disability. In its verdict the court explained the plaintiff sustained had sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident. The verdict also said she will need someone to take care of her and help her in her daily life something that will definitely affect her work, sustenance and her future, in addition to the huge expenses for her treatment outside the country.
