KUWAIT CITY, March 8: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, and State Minister for Planning and Development Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh has formed a team for preparing a comprehensive plan to conduct professional tests on expatriates who desire to work in Kuwait prior to granting them work permits. According to informed sources, the team will also study the possibility of applying those tests on Kuwaiti citizens, indicating that the team will submit a report in this regard in six months.

Minister Al-Sabeeh has assigned the Director of the Center for the Adoption of Professional Skills Dr Hammoud Al-Mudef as the head of the team. She instructed the team to ensure the results of such professional tests will be shared electronically with other state bodies, and to prepare for the implementation of a marketing plan for the media so that awareness about the importance of such tests will be provided to the employers.

Minister Al-Sabeeh also encouraged the team to study the financial, technical, administrative, and human resources capabilities within the Ministry of Social Affairs, suggesting the establishment of rehabilitation centers for those who fail. She indicated that both public and private sectors will contribute in the implementation of the professional tests and possibility of involving Kuwaitis workers from both sectors in these tests.

Meanwhile, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh recently prepared a questionnaire to circulate to all sectors of the ministry in order to identify the needs of each department and assess the magnitude of the obstacles faced by the departments due to lack of electronic interfaces among them, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily.

According to informed sources, the questionnaire will be sent to the Coordination and Follow-up section of the minister’s office for conducting a comprehensive survey of the obstacles that delay the work of the ministry’s sectors so that appropriate decisions can be issued to handle these obstacles.
