73 law violators arrested 106 motorists detained, 1,478 vehicles seized during series of security crackdowns

KUWAIT CITY, March 8: Hawally securitymen led by Hawally Security Chief Brigadier Gholoum Habib arrested 73 violators of residency and labor laws, as well as those reported as absconding. The campaign that covered several areas of the governorate led to arrest of eight persons who were reported as absconding, five for prostitution, 55 for expired residencies, two for running an illegal business of international phone calling facility and two marginal workers.

Meanwhile, The General Traffic Department (GTD) conducted a series of security crackdowns throughout the week in the six governorates; leading to the issuance of 33,340 traffic citations, impounding of 1,478 vehicles and motorcycles, arrest of 106 motorists, and implementation of 40 service orders. In the Capital Governorate, a total of 5,312 traffic citations were issued, 286 vehicles were impounded and five motorists were arrested. In Farwaniya, there were 2,587 traffic citations, 137 vehicles were confiscated and 40 motorists were arrested.

In Hawally, the traffic violations recorded reached 7,002; in addition to the impounding of 153 vehicles and one motorcycle, and the arrest of 29 motorists. In Ahmadi, a total of 5,423 traffic citations were issued, 87 vehicles were seized and six motorists were arrested. In Mubarak Al-Kabeer, there were 1,427 traffic violations recorded, 239 vehicles were confiscated; while the number of traffic violations in Jahra reached 1,637, 12 vehicles were confiscated and four motorists were apprehended.

On the other hand, the Operations Administration at GTD registered 2,502 traffic violations; in addition to the seizure of 336 vehicles and 27 motorcycles and the arrest of seven motorists. Meanwhile, the Special Team issued 7,125 traffic citations, seized 200 vehicles and arrested 15 motorists; while the Task Force conducted technical inspection for 325 vehicles and executed 40 service orders
