Jamal Dousari visits labor department for inspections ‘Studying on new percentage of national manpower in private sector’

KUWAIT CITY, March 5: Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs at Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Jamal Al-Dousari visited the Labor Department of Farwaniya Gover-norate for inspection, which is among the series of daily visits Al-Dousari makes to various labor departments based on directives from the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
In a press statement, Al-Dousari indicated of a state of dissatisfaction among the visitors to the division that is responsible for assessing the need of companies for laborers because of the delay in inspections. He revealed that this delay is due to a clear shortage of inspectors.
He said the Labor Sector will request for additional inspectors in the Farwaniya Labor Department as well as in other departments that suffers from shortage of personnel.

Regarding the transfer of commercial visit visas to work permits, Al-Dousari said, “We are still allowing those who entered the country on commercial visit visas before Feb 16 to transfer their visas. We may extend this facility until end of March.”
Meanwhile, Director of Labor Department of Farwaniya Governorate Mohammad Al-Ansari said the department deals with over 70,000 files but it suffers from a shortage of staff, adding that the department receives over 1,000 transactions daily.
He indicated the keenness of the employees to complete the transactions as quickly as possible, adding that the building is very old due to which the employees face difficulty especially during times of rain when the water leaks and falls on them.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Government Manpower and Restructuring Program (GMRP) Fawzi Al-Majdali said they are still studying a decision on the new percentage of national manpower in the private sector, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Affirming the decision will be implemented soon, Al-Majdali pointed out the presence of Social Affairs and Labor Minister Hind Al-Sabeeh in the committee tasked to study the issue will speed up the implementation process, especially since she was one of those who worked on the percentage during her tenure as GMRP official.
Al-Majdali confirmed the new percentage is in line with the manpower demand of the local market and it is applicable to the private sector.  He believes that once the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor implements the decision, it will provide thousands of real job opportunities for Kuwaiti youths in the private sector.
He clarified the delayed implementation of the decision did not affect the demand of the labor market for national workers, stressing the most important step is to apply it properly as expected from Al-Sabeeh who knows well the significance of the decision.
