Customs foils 2 Asians’ bid to smuggle in 5-kg marijuana Kuwaiti accuses compatriot of cheating him of KD 60,000

 KUWAIT CITY, March 4: Hawally securitymen arrested a Kuwaiti man and a female compatriot for the possession of an undisclosed amount of different types of drugs. While patrolling along King Abdul Aziz Motorway, the securitymen got suspicious when they noticed a vehicle and a motorbike parked on a vacant lot. The officers discovered the woman in the vehicle and the man on the motorbike had various types of drugs in their possession, along with 19 pieces of Chicklets and aluminum foil. Both Kuwaitis were then referred to the Drug Control General Department for the necessary legal action.

Man, woman injured: A Kuwaiti citizen sustained serious injuries when his vehicle toppled on Jahra Road. According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about an accident on Jahra Road, firefighters, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location. They pulled out the victim who was trapped inside the toppled vehicle and paramedics referred him to Jahra Hospital where he was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit. Securitymen shifted the vehicle from the road and organized the traffic. Meanwhile, an Egyptian woman sustained head injuries and bruises all over her body when her vehicle collided with another on King Fahad Expressway. Paramedics rushed to the location and referred her to Adan Hospital.
‘Corporal’ insulted: An unknown individual insulted an officer of rank ‘Corporal’ and tried to attack him in Rumaithiya area. According to security sources, when the officer went to Rumaithiya area to deal with an accident, a quarrel broke out between him and an unknown individual. The latter insulted and tried to attack him. However, he eventually managed to escape. The officer filed a case against the unknown suspect and investigations are ongoing to arrest him.
Arab expat held for drugs: An Arab expatriate was arrested in possession of drugs, which he was intending to sell. According to sources, when the Directorate General for Drug Control received information about an Arab expatriates involved in drug peddling, a team was formed for investigations. An undercover agent was sent to the suspect to buy ‘Ice’ drug. The suspect was arrested while handing over the drug to the agent. The officers checked his vehicle to find 750 grams of ‘Ice’ drug and 300 narcotic pills. The suspect confessed during interrogations that he was intending to sell the drugs. He was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him.
Traffic officer injured: A traffic officer of rank ‘Vice Corporal’ sustained injuries and bruises when his patrol vehicle toppled on Kabad Road while he was rushing to attend a traffic accident in Wafra area. According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about the accident, securitymen rushed to the location with paramedics and rescued the officer. Paramedics referred him to Farwaniya Hospital for treatment.

5-kg marijuana seized: Police in cooperation with personnel from the Air Cargo department at the Kuwait International Airport have succeeded in arresting two Asians for smuggling marijuana, reports Annahar daily. A security source said police received information about a parcel containing drugs and the customs officers allowed an Asian recipient to collect the parcel following which he was taken into custody. The parcel contained 4 kilos of marijuana and the suspect then guided police to his compatriot partner. Police seized from the latter one kilo of marijuana. The two traffickers have been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control.
Man swindled of KD 60,000: Police are looking for an unidentified Kuwaiti for swindling a compatriot, reports Al-Anba daily. According to the security sources the victim owns a company and according to a complaint filed with the Salmiya Police Station the victim said he imported goods worth KD 60,000 on behalf of a compatriot and the latter issued him a cheque.
When he deposited the cheque it bounced.
Foreign currency stolen: Police are looking for an unidentified burglar who allegedly broke into the home of a Kuwaiti man in Sabah Al-Salem and escaped with 1,500 Saudi rials, 100 Bahrain dinars and £200, reports Al-Anba daily. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.
Egyptian held for cheating: Police have arrested an unidentified Egyptian man for swindling four compatriots to the tune of KD 5,000 — KD 1,250 from each person in the name of establishing a business. He is said to have disappeared with the money, reports Al-Rai daily. The arrest came after the victims filed complaints with the Farwaniya Police Station. He was picked from the apartment of one of his relatives. He has been handed over to the authorities.
Bid to smuggle out baby: Officers at the Nuwaiseeb border post have arrested a Saudi man for attempting to smuggle out of the country their baby boy, reports Al-Rai daily. It has been reported the Saudi was stopped by the immigration officers at the border for not registering the baby either in his passport or mother’s passport. The daily did not give more details.
Pakistani injured in tank blast: A Pakistani blacksmith suffering from second degree burns on the face, arms and hands has been referred to the Al-Babtain Hospital for Burns, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily added the victim was injured when the fuel tank of his car exploded. The worker was welding car exhaust when gas leaked from the tank. According to passersby the victim’s clothes caught fire and it was put out by the passersby.
‘Civil ID used to leave Kuwait’: A Kuwaiti has filed a complaint with the Jahra Police Station accusing a compatriot of using his Civil ID to leave the country via the Salmi border post, reports Al-Rai daily. In his complaint, the citizen said he gave his Civil ID to the suspect to register his name at a health club but when he called him after several days, he answered from a neighboring country.
According to the citizen his friend is barred from travel. The suspect will be arrested upon arrival.
