‘Kuwait keen on increasing co-op with GCC states’ Bid to avert all kinds of security risks

KUWAIT CITY, March 4: The Assistant Undersecretary for Operation Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdallah Al-Muhanna says the timing of the second meeting of the GCC Risk Management Committee has an important and vital role in setting up the strategic policies and plans related to the risk management in the GCC countries. He stressed that special centers and committees in the risk management department particularly the GCC emergency center must be directed to deal with security risks based on their nature and magnitude. Major General Al-Muhanna had presided over the second meeting of the GCC Risk Management Committee, which was held at JW Marriot Hotel.
During the meeting, he affirmed that Kuwait is keen on increasing cooperation with the GCC states to work together in averting all kinds of security risks that may affect the GCC nationals, irrespective of whether it is locally or regionally. He insisted that all efforts must be exerted to provide whatever is necessary, adding that opinions and ideas that can water down any obstacles, as well as suggestions that can develop the performance of the department in a positive and effective manner must be provided.
He also stressed the important role of Ministry of Interior in providing facilities, means and arrangements, as well as support for the civil protection systems and structures in anticipation of any quick changes in the situations or effects of the complexity of such situations in the region. He urged for uniting visions, strategies, plans and programs that can counter any challenges and threats, stressing for early preparation to counter security risks.
During the meeting, a representative of the Saudi Ministry of Interior Major General Abdulrahman Al-Saleh affirmed the determination of Saudi Arabia to provide strong means for protecting the lives and properties of GCC nationals from any danger. He insisted that it is the duty of the GCC countries to provide support and assistance towards any efforts applied in enhancing the security, stability and progress in all GCC states.
