Al Ansari and Al Shatti win Losail Motocross Champ’ship

KUWAIT CITY, March 2: Kuwaiti Motorcycle riders Moath Al Ansari and Abdullah Al Shatti are making waves at the opening round of the 2014 FIM Motocross World Championship by being the first winners of the Losail Motor Cross (MX) Championship Saturday at the Losail MX circuits in Qatar organized by Qatar’s top motorsports organizing body, QMMF under the aegis of the FIM Motocross World Championship. There are a total of 32 riders participating in the event. In the MX1 category, Al Ansari obtained 177 points in the final standings and expressed his happiness at winning the championship for the first time saying “I am very happy to win the championship for first time and I would like to thank the Kuwaiti Federation and Balooshi Racing team for all the support and also thanks to QMMF for the seamless organization of the event and also the support extended to us”.

The second place in the championship was for the South African rider LeRoy Botha with 149 points ‘I am second overall, very happy considering that in the start of the season I had a bit of struggle as I was riding Kawasaki and I wasn_t enjoying the bike much but fortunately Abuissa racing has given me sponsor and a bike for this year and we looking forward 2014 season and possible we will do Dubai. I think that QMMF is doing great events and they have a magnificent track and great organization. Le Roy stated after the race. The third place in the standings was for Denis Stapleton from the USA with 147 points. In the MX2 category, the winner of the season, Abdullah Al Shatti got 228 points riding a KTM bike. The second place was for Hassan Ahmed from Bahrain with 187 points and Barak Al Jasmi also from Kuwait ended in third place overall with 169.

Regarding the second race of today, the winner of the race had been the KTM rider Denis Stapleton. Stapleton got the holeshoot and managed to lead the race to the finish line.  “I am very happy to win this race. The track was still very muddy and a little more slippery as some lines are still here from the GP riders, you had to be very cautious to stand up just for your turns correctly. Overall it was good as I had the holeshoot so I had a clear vision and I was able to ride my own race, had a good time and took the win. The first couple of rounds earlier in the season were really well, I got overall wins, unfortunately I had to miss two rounds living away in California, but I came back this weekend.  Dennis said after the race. The second place in the race was for Ryan Blair and Sean Gugain was third as yesterday.

In the MX2 category, Kuwaiti rider Mohammed Jaffar made a great start to the race and was the winner in his category while also finishing fourth in the overall standings. ‘It was a great race but still very muddy and the weather was difficult today because it was windy.  It was good as I came first even as I had a bad start and had to pull all the way to the first position. Thanks to QMMF for the great event and Balooshi Racing team and Red Bull Jaffar said after the podium. Abdullah Al Shatti and Saeed Al Shenqiti were second and third respectively in their category. Trophy presentations were made by Sultan Al Morrikhi-QMMF Board Member, Rashid Al Sulaiti-QMMF Public Relations Manager, Isa Al Awadi, FIM Asia Vice-President as well as Hamad Al Saif-Kuwait International Automobile Club official.
