Water tanker driver held for trading in local brew

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 26:  The Capital Governorate police have arrested an unidentified Asian water tanker driver and two compatriots for trafficking and manufacturing alcohol, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily quoting security sources said the arrest came after police were tipped off that the suspect was trafficking in alcohol using his water tanker as storage. Acting on this information, police searched the truck and seized 128 cartons containing 1,550 bottles of booze. The arrest came in Sulaibikhat. Police then raided the apartment of the suspect in the area and seized two more suspects who tried in vain to escape. Police have seized from the apartment manufacturing equipment and 24 cartons containing 286 bottles of booze. The contraband and the bootleggers have been referred to the concerned authorities.

Safe with KD 1,600 stolen: Police are looking for an unidentified burglar for breaking into the home of a Kuwaiti man in Al-Naeem in Jahra and stealing the safe containing KD 1,600 cash and official documents, reports Al-Rai daily. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.
