‘Proliferation of harmful drugs cause of sharp rise in crimes’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 25: Two youths, who assaulted the driver of a taxi in Salmiya area and tried to steal his money after threatening him with a sharp object, were arrested. According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about a quarrel between the two youths and the driver of a taxi, securitymen rushed to the location and arrested the two youths. The taxi driver informed securitymen that the youths attacked him and threatened him with a sharp object for stealing his money. A case was registered against the two youths.

Smuggling falcons: Kuwaiti Coastguards recently foiled an attempt by Iranians to smuggle five falcons into the country, reports Al-Shahed daily. According to security sources the falcons were seized from a dhow in mid-sea. The crew, the birds and the vessel have been referred to the authorities.

Officer insulted: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti for humiliating a police officer on duty, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said the man approached the police officer at a check point in Maidan Hawalli and verbally abused him for the frequent check points the ministry organized in the area. He also refused to show his ID and claimed he knows influential people who can ‘take care’ of the officer. He has been handed over to the authorities
