Minister shuts food firms, stores, restaurants selling expired goods

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 24: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr Abdul Mohsen Al-Mudej has issued orders to administratively shut down 23 stores, including restaurants and food companies, for a variety of offenses, reports Al-Rai daily quoting official sources. However, according to a report submitted by the Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection Department in the ministry the violations included security, safety and public health. The daily added, during inspection the officials found the restaurants and food companies sold products unfit for human consumption.

12 sheep stolen: Police are looking for two unidentified persons for breaking into a livestock pen in Kabd belonging to a Kuwaiti man and stealing 12 sheep, reports Al-Rai daily. According to the guard of the pen, the thieves were armed and they escaped with the loot in a pickup.
