New commercial visit visas eyed

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 24: The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has announced its intention to issue new commercial visit visas valid for a short period to expatriates, says a reliable source.

According to the source, the issuance of new commercial visit visas will be based on certain regulations and conditions on the transfer of such visas to work permits in the private sector. The source disclosed the ministry will stipulate the period for transfer by the end of March.

Meanwhile, the ministry confirmed it has been closely monitoring the collection of donations by societies involved in the campaign to assist Syrians. It can be recalled that the ministry launched the campaign recently in compliance with the directive of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah to provide assistance to the Syrians. On the other hand, the ministry appealed to those who may have incriminating evidence against societies and foundations funding terrorism or are involved in money laundering.

The ministry urged these people to immediately submit such information, while it allegedly regards reports from the US State Department and other international agencies accusing Kuwait of funding terrorism and money laundering as inaccurate and misleading. The source affirmed the ministry is always in close contact with relevant international organizations through the Foreign Affairs Ministry, indicating no violation has so far been registered against the country although there were some observations in the past which had been dealt with.
