GTD ‘issues’ 39,415 citations, seizes 1,535 vehicles & 19 bikes 140 motorists arrested

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22: The General Traffic Department (GTD) conducted a series of security crackdowns in the six governorates throughout the week; leading to the registration of 39,415 traffic violations, impounding of 1,535 vehicles and 19 motorcycles, arrest of 140 motorists, and technical inspection of 592 vehicles. In a press statement recently, the department revealed a total of 5,595 traffic citations were issued in the Capital Governorate while 273 vehicles were impounded.

In Farwaniya, there were 6,545 traffic citations, 165 seized vehicles and 25 motorists arrested. In Hawally, 7,024 traffic citations were registered, 70 vehicles and seven motorcycles were confiscated, and one motorist was arrested. In Ahmadi, there were 6,478 traffic violations recorded and 245 vehicles were impounded.

In Mubarak Al-Kabeer, there were 1,582 traffic violations, 252 vehicles were seized and nine motorists were arrested. In Jahra, there were 1,630 traffic violations, 41 confiscated vehicles and three motorists were arrested.

Meanwhile, the Operations Room at GTD registered 2,667 traffic violations, seized 391 vehicles and 18 motorcycles, and arrested 76 motorists; while the Security Control Team issued 7,000 traffic citations, seized 95 vehicles and arrested 20 motorists.

Moreover, the concerned authority at Kuwait International Airport registered 302 traffic violations and seized four vehicles; while the Technical Inspection Department issued 592 citations, executed 39 service orders and handled 172 accidents.
