Ex-policeman posing as officer steals man’s gold

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: The Jahra police have arrested a former policeman in connection with the theft of a bag of gold from the car of an Asian man, reports Al- Anba daily. The arrest came following a complaint filed by the victim who said the bag contained 700 grams of gold worth KD 8,000.

The theft had occurred a few days ago. Earlier it was reported the suspect impersonating a police officer, demanded to see the victim’s ID and drove off with the loot in a stolen car. Investigations conducted by police led to the identification of the suspect who was picked from a camp in Abdali. He also led police to the jeweler in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh to whom he had sold the gold. The thief was picked up by the victim from a legal lineup. The suspect and his accomplice have been referred to the authorities.
