‘Fighters plan to move to Kuwait’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: MP Saleh Ashour was recently quoted as saying things are beginning to become clear in Syria and that ‘outsiders’ fighting in Syria have begun moving out following pressure on them to quit, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily quoting Ashour said more than 20,000 fighters from the Gulf and Arab countries have made the decision to move to Kuwait. He described the news report as ‘annoying’. He also said this signals a serious security problem for Gulf in general and Kuwait in particular. Ashour held the Ministry of Interior responsible for taking a lenient approach to the situation. He added, the securitymen must be firm in their dealings to prevent a catastrophe to the country.

Illegal entry foiled: Saudi immigration officers at the Al-Riqqa border post recently foiled an attempt by a bedoun youth to illegally enter Saudi Arabia, reports Al-Anba daily. According to security sources the suspect was found on the floor of a GMC van hiding near the feet of five women. The Saudi authorities have reportedly sent a telegram to the Kuwaiti authorities informing about the detention of the women and the bedoun in Saudi Arabia. The daily did not give more details. This is the second incident in a matter of days. Earlier it was reported a Kuwaiti was arrested for attempting to ‘smuggle’ a bedoun out of Kuwait
