Indian beggar under woman’s garb collects KD1,000 in month

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 15: Securitymen apprehended an Asian man for begging for alms. The suspect, disguised as a woman, was wearing veil, reports Al-Anba daily. Jahra patrolmen on duty in Saad Al-Abdullah City suspected a woman begging for alms in front of a mosque.

A police source said the suspect aroused suspicion of the officers after he became jittery when the officers approached and walked away, and most importantly, due to the manner in which he was walking.

Following his arrest, the man said he collects more than KD 1,000 in a month. Apparently, he had been begging for three months. While patrolling the area, the security officers caught the woman in the act of begging. When they took her to the police station, they discovered the beggar is actually a man, an Indian who used the ‘niqab’ to hide his identity. The officers also found KD17 cash in his possession - money he collected through begging. Results of initial investigations revealed the beggar is working for a Kuwaiti who has no knowledge of his illegal activity. He was referred to the concerned security department for further questioning and other legal action.
