Over 100 ‘iqama’ violators arrested in Salmi campaign

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: Some 117 residency law violators were arrested in Salmi area in a recent campaign by Jahra security operatives.

The officers also confiscated a number of mobile groceries during the operation. Security sources said the culprits were arrested from horse stables and checkpoints, indicating 45 people were without civil ID cards and 24 had violated residency law, while 17 were involved in various offenses. Also, 31 people were detained for hawking and officers removed 9 mobile groceries.

Meanwhile, six stolen vehicles were recovered and 8 vehicles were taken for reckless driving activities conducted by their owners, while traffic citations were issued during the campaign. Sources noted the campaign will continue over an indeterminate period to rid the country of law violators

‘Royal’ held: Police have arrested a teenager from the ruling family for violating traffic laws. He has been arrested for driving without licence, humiliating police on duty and possessing an unlicensed gun, reports Al- Rai daily. A security source said the young Sheikh was initially stopped for driving a car with tinted glass. When he was asked to pulled over, he reportedly shouted at the policeman and reminded him that he is the son of Sheikh. He continued arguing with the police and even boasted of possessing a pistol. The young Sheikh has been referred to the Juvenile Prosecution.
