‘All measures taken for national festivities’ Minister of Interior, CSRSIR to meet on ‘naturalization’ issue

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 8, (Agencies): Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled and officials of the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR), which is headed by Saleh Al-Fadhala, will meet soon to discuss the demands presented by the Interior and Defense Committee regarding the naturalization and security conditions, reports Al- Anba daily quoting sources. Sources disclosed items in the agenda for the meeting include the CSRSIR’s opinion and that of the committee in relation to naturalization in a bid to set a timeline for addressing the issue.

Meanwhile, parliamentary sources confirmed the MPs will discuss the bill in March, indicating the government has requested some amendments; including the number of those who will be naturalized yearly. The government suggested the number of naturalized persons per year should not exceed the number agreed upon by the committee. In other news, the Ministry of Interior affirmed on Saturday taking all necessary security preparations and measurements for national days celebrations and Hala February 2014 festival in order to have a decent outcome that reflects Kuwait’s civilized status. The ministry urged, in a statement, citizens and residents to maintain general behaviors in their expression of joy during the festivities.
