Police detain British woman for begging from top leaders

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 4: A British woman of Iranian origin has been referred to the General Administration for Criminal Investigations after she was caught begging for alms, reports Al-Rai daily. She was taken in for questioning after she approached Sheikha Amthal Al- Ahmed begging for alms when Sheikha Amthal accompanied by the Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al- Hmoud were attending the Mubarakiya Market Festival.

The woman reportedly showed Sheikha Amthal some papers which said her three children were suffering from cancer. The sources added the woman was taken to the Salhiya Police Station where it was discovered she came to the country on visit visa. Police found in her possession KD 1,000. Acase of begging has been registered against her

Police hunt continues: Police are still looking for a person, identified only MM, who reportedly escaped with a police vehicle two days ago and then abandoned it in Firdous after realizing he could not escape from police who were on his trail, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Police records show the suspect lives in Sabah Al-Nasser and that he is wanted by law in connection with two thefts. The suspect’s family is camping at an unidentified location. Police records also show the suspect has not left the country
