Egyptian swindler caught at last Coastguard foils bid to smuggle drugs by Iranian gang

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 4: The Sulaibikhat police have finally arrested the 38- year-old Egyptian who had duped scores of people by making them believe he has special powers to solve their problems, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to a security source, police acting on information set a trap for the man and caught him red-handed while offering services to a bogus customer. A woman sent by police reportedly asked the magician to make her a magic charm and the suspect agreed to meet her in Salmiya where she was supposed to hand him over the cost of the magic charm - KD 800. Police then lay in wait for him and seized and also recovered the police money. Police armed with a search warrant issued by the Public Prosecution searched the home of the sorcerer and seized witchcraft tools and a sachet of heroin.

Coastguard foils bid to smuggle drugs by Iranian gang: Six Iranian nationals have been arrested for infiltrating into the Kuwaiti territorial waters in an attempt to smuggle drugs into the country. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Interior, when the radar system of Coast Guard Department detected the entry of a boat into the Kuwaiti territorial waters, a patrol team was sent for investigations. As the team approached the boat, it issued orders to the individuals aboard the boat but the latter refused to follow them and turned around to escape. While the team was chasing the boat, they noticed the suspects dropping a strange item into the sea. The Coast Guard patrol team retrieved the item to discover it was a white bag wrapped in plastic and tied with a rope. After requesting backup support to stop the boat, the officers opened the bag to find drugs. Eventually, the boat was caught and taken to the Sabah Al-Ahmad base of the Coast Guard Department. The six Iranian nationals aboard the boat were arrested and referred with the drugs to the concerned authorities for investigations. The Assistant Undersecretary for Border Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah led the operation.
