The injured are shifted to hospital in an ambulance
7 hurt in Avenues Mall blast

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 4:  A gas canister of a restaurant at The Avenues mall exploded Tuesday, wounding seven people, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) announced. Deputy Commander of KFSD Colonel Khaled Al-Mekrad told KUNA firefighters from two nearby fire centers have rushed to the scene and managed to put out the fire. He pointed out that the injured, all are restaurant employees, were taken to hospital for treatment. Al-Mekrad said that the explosion was the result of gas leakage from one canister at the kitchen of the restaurant. He noted that the blast caused material damage to the restaurant in addition to injuries its staff. He added a comprehensive probe was launched to identify the circumstances of the incident.

Meanwhile, firemen from Mangaf Fire Station rescued a Kuwaiti family of five who were trapped in their burning house in Fahad Al-Ahmad, says Al-Seyassah. After receiving information on the fire incident, the Operations Room dispatched a team of firefighters to the location. Upon arrival at the scene, the firemen discovered the family could no longer get out of the house as it was surrounded by fire. They quickly took the necessary steps to save the entire family. The fire was extinguished in record time without causing injuries. The cause of fire remains unknown and investigations in this regard are underway.
