Securitymen arrest expats for violating residency law Traffic dept conducts series of surprise campaigns

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: Securitymen from Jahra Security Directorate continued security crackdowns in the governorate, resulting in the arrest of a number of people wanted by law for their involvement in various crimes. This is in compliance with the instruction of Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah to launch security crackdowns in Taima and Saad Al- Abdullah. Securitymen established checkpoints through which 16 people were nabbed for violating the residency law and four others who were found to be involved in different cases. All those arrested were referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, in their recent campaigns, security operatives apprehended 30 individuals from different nationalities for violating residency law, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Also, the officers arrested three juveniles for endangering life on the road after they were caught performing stunts with three cars which have been used for theft operations.

Traffic dept conducts series of surprise campaigns: The General Traffic Department (GTD) conducted a series of surprise inspection campaigns in the six governorates throughout the week, leading to the issuance of 37,504 traffic citations, impounding of 2,185 seized vehicles and 59 motorcycles and arrest of 33 motorists; in addition to the execution of 32 service orders and dealing with 202 traffic accidents. A press statement from the Interior Ministry Saturday revealed that in the Capital Governorate 4,462 traffic citations were issued and 366 vehicles were impounded; while in Farwaniya a total of 6,238 traffic citations were issued, 257 vehicles were confiscated and four motorists were arrested. In Hawally, there were 8,266 traffic citations, 409 impounded vehicles and 29 motorcycles, and 17 motorists arrested, and in Ahmadi, 5,640 traffic violations were registered, 147 vehicles were seized and five motorists were arrested. In Mubarak Al-Kabeer, there were 1,529 traffic citations, 213 confiscated vehicles and two motorists were arrested; while in Jahra, there were 2,050 traffic citations and nine seized vehicles.

On the other hand, the Operations Administration in GTD registered 2,361 traffic violations, seized 421 vehicles and 30 motorcycles, and arrested three motorists. Moreover, the Special Team issued 6,500 traffic citations, seized 340 vehicles and arrested two motorists.
