Fake visas scam 66 held in vice crackdown

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 31: Personnel from the General Immigration Department have arrested an unidentified employee working at the Mubarak Al-Kabir Immigration Department for forging visit visas, reports Al-Qabas daily. During interrogation the suspect gave the names of five Egyptian representatives of different companies because they are accomplices in the scheme.

Their arrest also sent into retirement a Sheikh - the head of the department. Astatement issued by the Ministry of Interior said the suspects extended visit visas to three months for persons working on government projects without approval from the respective sponsors. The investigations are continuing to arrest the main culprits.

Meanwhile, a former Kuwaiti football player who was reportedly involved in a visa scam is said to have been released on bail, reports Annahar daily. The daily added the investigations in the case are still ongoing in which some ‘high’ officials from the concerned ministry are involved. Earlier reports said the company owned by the football player had received approval to hire 1,900 laborers and had received necessary documents from the General Immigration Department

66 held in vice crackdown: Jahra securitymen arrested 66 individuals and issued 77 citations against various traffic violations during an intensive campaign that they launched in Saad Al- Abdullah area. According to security sources, Jahra Security Director Major General Ibrahim Al- Tarrah formed a team to launch the campaign in Saad Al-Abdullah area.

The officers arrested 25 individuals without Civil IDs, 12 violators of Residency Law, 14 hawkers, 8 reckless drivers and 7 Asian women who were reported as absconding. The arrested individuals were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them. The officers also issued 77 citations against various traffic violations. Sources indicated that Jahra securitymen intend to continue organizing such campaigns in all areas within Jahra Governorate in order to maintain the security of the governorate.
