‘Immediate’ transfer for degree holders on family Labor intends to activate Article 11

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 30: The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor intends to activate Article 11 of the Labor Law to ensure equality among employers, such that they may hire new workers provided they have the license, facilities and job orders, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources

Sources explained the employees registered in the companies’ files must work for their sponsors, while the latter should prove they need additional manpower. Sources said the ministry will issue a decision in this regard once the legal and interpretative framework of the article is established.

Meanwhile, on the transfer of family visa to work permit, sources clarified those who have no university degree must spend minimum of one year in the country before applying for the transfer; while those with a university degree may immediately transfer as they are exempted from the period of stay condition.

In other news, Assistant Undersecretary for Cooperative Societies at Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Salah Al-Rabah announced that the ministry is studying the possibilities of separating cooperative societies that serve more than one area such as Omariya and Rabya Cooperative Society, based on requests submitted by the residents of these areas, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a press release, he said the new Cooperative Society Law will help in developing the work especially with the presence of financial and administrative supervisor to lead the board in the right manner.

He stressed the importance of organizing promotional events in order to achieve the main goal of the cooperative societies’ work for the benefit of the citizens and expatriates of Kuwait. Meanwhile, about 11,800 to 12,500 Kuwaiti citizens of both genders are likely to receive jobs during the fiscal year of 2014-2015, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a source from the Civil Service Commission (CSC). Indicating that these figures will depend on the budget, he stressed that the governmental authorities usually request for employees more than the registered number of applicants at the beginning of the fiscal year, which affects the budget.

He explained that CSC addressed all governmental authorities last October about the need to prepare the functional requirements for the new fiscal year, the necessities of the ministries as well as local and overseas scholarships for the employees.
