130 domestics held in Jahara & Hawally

 KUWAIT CITY, Jan 29: Personnel from the General Immigration Department during a campaign against domestic labor offices in Jahra and Hawalli are said to have arrested 130 domestic workers for violating residence and labor laws, reports Al-Rai daily. Securitymen discovered the owners of some of these offices were trading in humans by helping run away domestic workers find jobs - workers who were under the sponsorship of different sponsors.

The authorities have reportedly shut down 36 offices. Meanwhile, the Ahmadi police during a security crackdown have arrested 15 people — Arabs and Asians - 10 for violating residence law, four who were reported absconding by their sponsors and one for trading in locally manufactured booze, reports Al-Rai daily.
