‘Some charities, donor bodies collecting illegal donations’ ‘Kuwait strives to promote charity, moderate thinking’

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 28: Undersecretary at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Adel Al- Falah affirmed that Kuwait strives to promote charity and to concretize its relations with friendly nations, adding the accomplishment is the fruit of the ministry’s strategies, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

Dr Al-Falah made the disclosure while honoring participants in the ninth edition of the training course for graduate scholarship students organized by the Islamic Cultural Center and pointed to the recent Donor Conference which Kuwait hosted for Syria, adding His Highness the Amir has mandated the ministry and the Center for Moderation to serve as beacon for the world. He disclosed that Kuwait is trying hard to inculcate the spirit of peaceful co-existence in citizens so as to live in harmony with all and sundry, as per the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He noted the ministry teaches Arabic language and the traditions of the Holy Prophet (Hadith) through which the best practice of peaceful co-existence is best understood. He reiterated the method is part of strategy to pioneering moderation as exemplified by the Islamic Cultural Center. In a new development, a large number of charitable societies and donor organizations are collecting donations illegally for the Syrian nation, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources from Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor. They revealed that these societies violated the bylaws and regulations that the ministry had allotted in this domain under the claim that they are answering the bid of the political leadership to support the Syrian nation.

They explained that one of the charitable societies set up a booth in a famous commercial complex to collect cash donations without obtaining a license from the ministry. Meanwhile, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh held a meeting with the employees of the departments that are affiliated to her office for discussing the method of organizing those departments. Sources revealed that the minister listened to the employees’ concerns and observations. She assured them that she will study the issues and work on solving it as soon as possible.
