24 held in Khairan traffic raid 35 bikes, 24 cars seized, 200 citations issued

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: Officers from General Traffic Department held a traffic campaign on Khairan Chalet Road during which they issued 200 citations against various traffic violations, seized 35 motorbikes, 24 vehicles and arrested 24 individuals. According to security sources, the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdul Fatah Al-Ali received several complaints from owners of chalets in Khairan area about a group of people performing dangerous stunts on the road. He immediately ordered for launching a traffic campaign on Khairan Road during which traffic officers issued 200 citations against various traffic violations, seized 35 motorbikes, 24 vehicles and arrested 24 violators of traffic rules. The arrested individuals were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.

Media campaign begins The Interior Ministry has launched its media campaign to educate and guide the citizens and residents on the actual operation of the system of traffic control cameras on the Nuwaiseeb Road. The Security Media Department at the Interior Ministry in a press statement said that the actual launch of the system will commence as of the beginning of next February, where the campaign would be preceded by awareness programs to be broadcast through all audio-visual media. It added that interviews with a number of security leaders and concerned traffic personnel would be broadcast to explain in detail the requirements of the system that aims to reduce traffic violations and completely eliminate the causes of the horrific incidents witnessed on this vital road.
