Panel declines issuance of new approvals licenses for ‘hotels’ Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s undersecretary attends meeting

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s committee in-charge of classifying hotels held a meeting and came out with several recommendations related to apartment hotels in the country, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

The meeting presided over by the Undersecretary of the Ministry Abdulaziz Al-Khalidi with the participation of representatives from concerned governmental bodies — the Municipality, Chamber of Commerce, and Ministries of Interior and Finance, declined to issue new approvals or operation licenses for apartment hotels. The daily noted the committee will only issue new approvals or operation licenses for hotel apartments after checking up the company applying for license or its renewal to determine the extent at which they abide by rules and regulations.

At the same time, the committee is working hard to link operating license with employment license for companies, the daily added. Meanwhile, the committee presented results of the field survey conducted in some governorates and requested the team to complete its work in the remaining governorates to ensure that apartment hotels are issued necessary licenses for their operations. As regards the violations cited by the field survey team, the committee requires the law should be implemented regardless. The violations included operating without valid license.
