Pardon for 1,000 - Amiri gesture Asian drug dealers nabbed

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 19, (KUNA): An Interior Ministry official said on Sunday that an Amiri amnesty committee tasked with checking on inmates has actually begun its work in preparing the list of nearly 1,000 inmates who will be pardoned.

General Director of the General Administration of Correctional Institutions, Major General Khalid Al-Deyayn said in a statement that the names of the inmates will be pre-checked by various ministry departments prior to the issuance of the Amiri amnesty decree in this regard.

Asian drug dealers nabbed: A team of officers from the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) arrested two Asian drug dealers with 250 grams of ice drugs and 50 grams of marijuana in their possession, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Acting on a tip-off, the department formed a security team tasked to put the suspects under surveillance. The team found out one of the suspects sells drugs by using different telephone numbers and then he drops the contraband in areas designated by his clients without showing himself in order to protect his identity.

The team obtained the necessary documents to arrest the suspect after verifying the information. He was arrested with 100 grams of ice drugs and 50 grams of marijuana in his possession. He admitted to trading in drugs and guided police to his accomplice who was arrested later with 150 grams of ice drugs in his possession. Both suspects, along with the confiscated drugs, were referred to the concerned security department for prosecution.
