Wish rejected, woman tries to commit suicide ‘Mandoub’ forges docus

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 19: Awoman from the United Arab Emirates tried to commit suicide by injecting herself with an empty syringe and needle after her request for leg amputation was ignored, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said the woman was admitted to Al- Razi Hospital following burns that deformed her leg, and upon admission, she asked the doctors to expedite amputation of the leg because it hurts a lot and she’s unable to sleep as a result, but the doctors did not respond.

Later on, the woman tried taking her life by injecting herself with an empty syringe and needle. A security source said the medical staff was unable to control the patient and called the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry, so the police rushed to the hospital to calm her down and then convinced her to give up the idea.

The woman is reported to have said she suffered an infection in the leg 15 years ago and underwent series of surgeries that failed to relieve her suffering, adding she could not go for treatment outside the country because of financial problems and currently addicted to painkillers, so she decided to end to her sufferings.

Meanwhile, a Syrian working as company representative (mandoub) was arrested by Salmiya securitymen for falsifying documents-mainly salary certificates, to help expatriates apply for bank loans, reports Al-Rai daily.

A security source said officials in a branch of a bank in Salmiya suspected documents submitted by an expatriate applying for a loan and informed the police. Following his arrest, the applicant said he paid KD 500 to a mandoub whom he met through a newspaper advert. Acting upon details provided by the applicant, the police arrested the mandoub who admitted forging documents and receiving KD 500 each from four people.
