Two Asian expats held with five kilos marijuana Egyptian caught with drug pills

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: Directorate General for Drug Control headed by its director Brigadier Saleh Al-Ghannam arrested two Asian expatriates in possession of five kilograms of marijuana. According to security sources, when DGDC received information about an Asian expatriate attempting to smuggle drugs through a border checkpoint, a team was formed for investigations based on instructions from the Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Major General Abdulhameed Al- Awadhi and under the guidance of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid.

After confirming the information and obtaining necessary warrant, they coordinated with the border customs management. They allowed the cargo to pass the border checkpoint after which they arrested the Asian expatriate who received the delivery.

They checked it to find four kilograms of marijuana. During interrogations, he confessed that the drugs belonged to him and he was receiving it on behalf of his accomplice to store in his apartment.

The second suspect, who was also an Asian expatriate, was arrested and securitymen confiscated one kilogram of marijuana from him.

Both suspects were referred with the marijuana to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.

Meanwhile, customs officers at the Kuwait International Airport recently foiled an attempt by an Egyptian man to smuggle into the country 300 Tramadol pills, reports Al-Seyassah daily. During investigation, the suspect denied knowledge of the drugs in his baggage. However, he has been handed over to the concerned authorities
