PACI issues 900,000 smart IDs to expats Officials who worked on ‘Kuwait Finder’ honored

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) has distributed 900,000 smart civil ID cards to expatriates since the beginning of the process in the middle of last year, says PACI Director General Engineer Musa’ed Al-Asousi. Al-Asousi made the statement recently when he honored officials who worked on ‘Kuwait Finder’ application, which contains telephone directories, for smart phones. He said the authority has successfully passed through a phase of dealing with a large number of visitors and the mounting pressure on the staff during the security campaigns last Ramadan.

He revealed the authority distributes around 12,000 to 13,000 cards daily. He also unveiled a plan to expand geographic coverage to include more areas as soon as possible. On the ‘Kuwait Finder’ application, he confirmed the authority has started implementing the second phase of the directory to make the English version. He said this contains locations of diwaniyas and condolence areas, as well as links to ministries and other government agencies. He added the electronic authorization system will be included once the National Assembly approves a bill in this regard.
