‘Women working for gangs arrested’ MoI takes steps to block drug peddling

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 12: The Interior Ministry has warned about people who trade in and particularly target the youths and students with some kind of pills called Strawberries, Kabtagon, Tramadol and others, reports Al-Qabas daily. The ministry has said it will adopt strict measures to dry up the sources of drugs and develop a mechanism to prevent the smuggling of such items. The ministry disclosed women have infiltrated the gangs to help them smuggle and sell drugs and several of them were arrested over the past year. According to the ministry statistics there was a 49 percent rise in drug traffic in the first quarter of 2013

Self-immolation: A 19-year-old Kuwaiti, who is suffering from mental problems, set fire to himself in a mosque in Al-Qasr, reports Al- Seyassah daily. People performing prayers in the mosque immediately took the necessary steps to extinguish the fire. The Kuwaiti was first taken to Jahra Hospital and then he was transferred to Babtain Center for Burns and Plastic Surgery in Sabah Health District for further treatment.

Theft in co-op: Police are looking for three unidentified persons who broke into the branch of Sabah Al- Nasser Cooperative Society and stole an undisclosed sum of money from the cash machine, reports Al-Shahed daily. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit
