Pope invited to visit Kuwait Amir’s message delivered to Tawadros II

CAIRO, Jan 12, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir’s envoy, Deputy Minister for Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al- Sabah delivered on Sunday an invitation to the Pope of Egypt’s Coptic Christian Church Tawadros II to visit Kuwait. After meeting the Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of All Africa on the Holy Apostolic See of St. Mark the Evangelist of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah said “we were honoured by this warm encounter with His Holiness the pope and we hope to God that this communication continues between Arab brothers.”

He added that it was also an honour to have delivered the message on behalf of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Upon receiving an invitation to visit Kuwait from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah, the Pope of Egypt’s Coptic Christian Church Tawadros II described the gesture as expressing “love and tolerance.”

The pope said on Sunday that he received the letter with much delight, adding he was keen to respond affirmatively to the invitation “at the right time”, in a visit where he would learn more of Kuwait’s urban development.

The visit of the Kuwaiti Amir’s envoy is one that expresses the place of Egypt in the hearts of the Kuwaiti people, he said, commending the Gulf state’s position on serving the best interests of the Arab world and its people. The encounter was held in the attendance of Kuwaiti Ambassador to Egypt Salem Al-Zamanan.
