MoSAL to provide ‘assistance’ to depts of Capital Labor sector LID to inspect commercial, industrial bodies for violations

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 10: Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Sector in the Ministry of Social Affairs Jamal Al- Dosari has said the ministry will provide technical and administrative assistance to various departments in the Capital Labor sector. In a statement following his recent tour of the labor department in Capital Governorate, Al-Dosari stated the objective is to follow up and assess the work after a meeting of the concerned officials with some business owners who had presented grievances on the performance of the sector, in a step to satisfy their demands through the ministry’s decisions. Meanwhile, Al-Dosari held a meeting with the administrative officials to discuss ways of improving performance in the sector and presented the ministry’s plan for the new year. He also discussed technical and administrative support for the departments in Capital Labor sector, where there is shortage of employees compared to the number of clients they receive. He noted the ministry has already called the company in charge of maintenance works on the automation system to rectify technical problems in the system, so that the department may continue its activities efficiently. It is noteworthy the labor departments suspended transactions for the past two weeks due to inventory.

Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Abdulmohsen Al-Mutairi has issued an administrative circular to the Labor Inspection Department (LID) and its affiliated units in all governorates to inspect commercial and industrial organizations for violations of the private labor law by any employers, reports Alam Alyawm daily. He said the concerned officials and authorities have to apply the decision for the public good particularly in the private sector. Meanwhile, the Director of Labor Relations Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Jassem Al- Humoud explained that serious shortage of personnel particularly in the Department of Complaints and Absconding Reports is the key reason behind the delay in the completion of transactions. He stressed that the department has been suffering from shortage of staff for years even though it is one of the most vital departments in the ministry. He indicated that the department has addressed the concerned officials of the ministry to deal with the problem for the smooth workflow of the department.
