Flights normal after heavy fog - Many planes diverted to Bahrain

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 9, (KUNA): Air navigation is back to normal following the low visibility that obstructed some flights at Kuwait International Airport today, said Director of Operations at Kuwait Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) Essam Al-Zamel. Al-Zamel said that the heavy fog prompted the airport officials to redirect five incoming flights to Bahrain International Airport, in addition to the delay of 11 others. The DGCA has designated a liaison officer to facilitate workload at the airport as a result of the huge number of outgoing and incoming passengers.

Meanwhile, earlier, a number of flights were diverted to Bahrain international airport due low visibility. Al-Zamel told KUNA that a number of flights were diverted to Bahrain international due to low visibility. At around 8:00 am local-time, an incoming flight for Kuwait Airways landed at Kuwait International Airport due to improving weathering conditions; However, the weather shifted back to intense, leading to the diversion of several flights to Bahrain, said Al-Zamel.
