MoI collects visitors database - Bid to prevent crime Man, women jailed in vote-buying

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 6: The Interior Ministry has started collecting imprint database of all visitors to the country, as part of security measures to guard the actions of visitors in the course of their stay, reports Al- Rai daily. Security sources said the step will facilitate arrest in case crime is committed, and also help trace wanted persons through background checks. They noted the Ministry of Interior has overcome the hurdle of database imprint for visitors who receive visas at the airport and Immigration Department respectively.

Man, women jailed in vote-buying: The Criminal Court sentenced former parliamentary candidate Saud Al-Subai’e and some Kuwaiti women who were charged for vote buying to serve two years in prison. It is noteworthy the Interior Ministry last July arrested a number of candidates for questioning on accusations of vote-buying, and were released soon after.
