Kuwaiti jailed in drugs case commits suicide by hanging 17,000 pills found on drug peddling gang

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 6: A 40-year old Kuwaiti inmate of Central Prison committed suicide by hanging himself inside the prison bathroom. According to security sources, when a prison inmate went to the bathroom, he was shocked to find the victim hanging from the ceiling. He called out for help and freed the victim. They rushed him to the jail hospital, but he was declared as dead. Jahra Public Prosecutor ordered to register a crime case and instructed the General Department for Criminal Evidences and Forensics Department to investigate the cause of the death. Sources revealed that the victim was sentenced to three-year imprisonment for a drug case.

Drugs seized: Four Arab expatriates were arrested for trafficking in drugs and antinarcotics men recovered 17,000 illicit pills they had smuggled into the country, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Apparently, a team of officers was formed to pursue the suspects when the Drug Control General Department received a tipoff about their activities. The suspects were place under surveillance for a time to confirm the validity of information. After that, an undercover agent sealed a deal with the first two suspects to purchase 1,000 narcotic pills, and they were arrested after the transaction. During investigation, they admitted ownership of the contraband and named two other accomplices from the same nationality. The officers raided the apartment of the third and fourth suspects and found additional 7,000 pills. All four men were referred to Drug Prosecution. Forged cards: Police have arrested two Malaysians for purchasing goods worth KD 16,200 using forged credit cards, reports Al-Anba daily. Investigations conducted by securitymen showed the men were staying in a 5-star hotel in downtown Kuwait City. According to security sources the suspects paid the hotel bills using the same forged credit cards. The men have been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further interrogation.

Drugs seized on airport: Customs officers at the Kuwait International Airport have arrested an unidentified Egyptian passenger for possessing drugs, reports Al-Anba daily. The suspect came from Alexandria and the drugs were found hidden inside his clothes. The drugs and the suspect have been referred to the authorities
