'Drifters' plans foiled to mark advent of New Year 48 arrested; Kuwaiti and his girlfriend caught drunk

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 2: Several traffic and security campaigns were conducted on Jan 1 under the guidance of Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Abdulfattah Al-Ali. Some 200 people were arrested, 340 vehicles seized and 3,500 citations were issued. The campaigns foiled major plans by ‘drifters’ to mark advent of new year.

48 arrested: Officers from Jahra Security Directorate launched a number of security campaigns within some locations in the governorate during which they arrested 48 individuals, seized a number of vehicles and issued 97 traffic citations, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to security sources, the arrested individuals included a youth who possessed 45 narcotic pills, two unidentified individuals with hashish while the rest were hawkers. They were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.

Couple caught drunk: The Ahmadi police have arrested an unidentified Kuwaiti and his girlfriend for consuming alcohol, reports Al-Rai daily. The arrest came on the New Year’s Day. According to police the couple was singing at the top of their voices while driving along a road in Fintas They have been referred to the concerned authorities.
