Probe ordered in death of hospital bound expat Doctor accused of ‘killing’ girl

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: The Assistant Unde-rsecretary for Civil Services, at the Ministry of Health Dr Mohammad Khashti has announced the formation of a committee to investigate the death of an expatriate before arriving at the Contagious Diseases Hospital, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a press release Dr Khashti said, “The Ministry of Health has a mechanism to investigate the death of the victim who was receiving treatment at a private hospital before he was rushed to the Contagious Diseases Hospital. He went on to say the family of the deceased has filed a complaint with the Ministry of Health and the hospital immediately set up a committee to investigate the circumstances leading to the death of the victim. On the other hand, the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs, member of the executive body of the Council of Ministers of Health of the GCC ministries of Health Dr Qais Duwairi in response to queries has denounced the rumors about meningitis in the country.

He said that the Ministry has made remarkable accomplishments in order to develop the working procedures of the program put in place by the ministry to provide the best services and ensure the quality of health products.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated development, an unidentified Kuwaiti man has filed case with the concerned authorities accusing a neurologist working for the Adan Hospital of killing his 10-year-old daughter, reports Annahar daily. In his complaint the father of the victim said when his daughter took ill, he rushed her to the hospital and the next day he was told the daughter died of epilepsy. He blames the doctor for medical error.
