Arrest orders out for 80,000 illegals 409 held fleeing at airport

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29: Security authorities in the country have issued 80,000 arrest orders against expatriates who obtained their visas illegally, reports Al- Nahar daily quoting informed sources. They explained that the committee formed for investigating illegal visa trade in the country had last week exposed the violations committed by the director general and deputy director of a department, who were summoned for investigations, adding that the committee also discovered 80,000 illegal visa transactions.

Sources revealed that 409 Egyptians were arrested at Kuwait International Airport as they were trying to flee the country after receiving information about the arrest of the officials. They were referred to the General Department for Immigration Investigation and Passports where during investigations they confessed that they each paid KD 210 to an individual for obtaining commercial visit visas.

They said a detailed report about the violations related to illegal visa transactions will be submitted to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al- Khalid, revealing that the report will expose a number of officials from the General Immigration Department.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated development, the committee responsible for allotting conditions for Amiri amnesty has listed their recommendations, which will be referred to the concerned authorities including Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Justice, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting informed sources.

They revealed that some changes have been implemented in the conditions this year. They explained that perpetrators of crimes involving kidnapping, looting, use of weapons and murder will not be included in the Amiri pardon in order to serve as a detterent for others.
