‘Pay worker’s right’ - KOC in court

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: The Court of Appeals presided over by Judge Saleh Al-Jeri upheld the verdict issued by a lower court, which obligated Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to pay one of its retired employees an end-of-service indemnity of KD 14,000. According to the case files, Lawyer Mohammad Al-Ajmi, who represented the retired employee, approached the concerned labor department after KOC refused to settle the dispute amicably. Using articles 18 and 82 of the oil sector’s labor law related to calculation of end-of-service indemnity, Article 51 of the labor law and its amendment of 6/2010 regarding the minimum benefit limit of one and a half years, he requested for providing his client with full endof- service benefits.
